Meara is one of the keeper pups from our imported “M” litter. She was sent out for IGP training, but that unfortunately did not go as planned and we ended up bringing her home after nearly three years with the trainer with very little training ever actually having been done and none of our plans/goals for her having been accomplished.  After getting her home and letting her settle back in and decompress, we regrouped and started exploring what we actually had and, in the process, uncovered a very happy, highly social, extremely intelligent, environmentally stable, curious dog who  lives and loves to please her handler, has a fantastic nose and very strong desire to use it and who, once she actually learned how to learn for the joy of learning, soaks up training like a sponge and is always ready for the next lesson or adventure!  We used nose work to begin unlocking this little dog’s potential and belief in herself, and what a world it has opened up for Meara!  She passed her ORT (odor recognition test) on her first try despite riding 6 hours in a car to the test site, staying in a hotel room for the first time ever, and testing in an environment she had previously never experienced.  She has also earned legs toward AKC novice container and interior titles, continues training toward further trials in AKC scent work and is ready to trial for her NACSW NW1. Nosework and the confidence it is building and being allowed to run and explore and just be a dog is also developing Meara’s connection in obedience, and we plan to explore AKC obedience and rally titles with her in the future. The genetics behind Meara are quite lovely.  She is a daughter of SG Baccary vom Peiner Burgpark, IGP3, HD Normal (free), ED normal (free), LTV-0 (free), OCD-free, himself a son of the great Bordy Blendy, IPO3 and Dina vom Eisernen Kreuz, IPO3 by Quardes von der Staatsmacht, IPO3, SchH3.  Meara’s mother is SG2 July Cevaro, IGP2, hips and elbows normal, dm clear, LTV-0 (free), Spondy-0 (free), a daughter of Quo Vadis von der Teufelskehle, IGP3, FH2 and Ester Cevaro, SVV1 by Henrik vom Wolfsheim, IPO3 (V4 BSP 2015), FH2, WUSV. In the third generation of this pedigree you also find the outstanding dogs Jaro Ja-He and Pike del Lupo Nero.  July produced some lovely litters for us containing pups who are successfully working and competing in a wide variety of venues from working and sport detection to search and rescue, as police K9s, in protection sport, in AKC performance events, as service dogs  and living with their families as much loved members of the household.  After retirement from our breeding program, July was donated to one of our local sheriff’s departments where she quickly earned her narcotics detection certification and continues to work to remove drugs from the street and to keep her handler safe.   Genetics, looks, temperament, enthusiasm for life and all it has to offer  and a blossoming attitude toward learning and work all combine to make Meara a favorite with everyone she meets!  We are very much looking forward to seeing what adventures and accomplishments await Meara and to continuing to watch this super girl develop and reach her full and much anticipated potential!
